Off The Boat

Time to hang out with Little Jacob, go bowling with Michelle, and beat up some loan sharks for my cousin.

Get Innocuous!

This is the commercial they are running in Europe for GTA IV. I think it does a great job of showing off how alive Liberty City is. It shows that while Niko is a part of the city, he isn't what makes it go. Liberty City isn't lying in wait for whatever Niko does next, instead it goes about its daily life. While Niko can change what happens in a given day, he doesn't have to do a single thing in order for things to happen in the city.

Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword - Quick Review

Due to some poor planning on my part I've ended up with way too much to play. With five games on the table one had to draw the short straw. I typically don't review a game I don't beat, or at least complete the majority of, but Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword is the exception.

Once again you take the role of Ryu Hayabusa, this time around six months after the events in Ninja Gaiden. Just like before your village is under attack and you are the only one capable of saving the day. You hold the DS in its book style with a map on the left screen and Ryu on the right screen. Every button on the DS is block, while every other action is done with the stylus. Drag the stylus to move Ryu, and slash across your enemies to swing your sword, or tap them to throw shuriken. These controls work great for a Ninja Gaiden game on a portable system, but this causes it to be a little easier than most Ninja Gaiden games.

Ninja Gaiden DS is a wonderful portable action title, and should be a welcome addition to any DS owners collection, not just Ninja Gaiden fans.

Thawed Too Early

It's been a quiet week at Scissors 61, mostly because the only thing on our minds is Grand Theft Auto IV. I made an attempt at the age old method of freezing to make the wait slightly easier on my sanity, but a jogger came across my body.

I am truly worried about my well being in the coming week. Monday will be a day of biting my nails, shopping for supplies that would normally belong in a bomb shelter, and buy new couch cushions. Monday night will be a trip to Gamestop for the midnight release, and I do not plan on sleeping, my mind is made up and I can not be swayed. Once the game is beaten and I wake from the coma it causes I will get to talking about this game to anyone with an ear.

I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a game, probably something like Final Fantasy X. In the mean time I'll spend the last hours with some Okami and a podcast tonight. See you on the other side.

He Really Broke The Pedal

My Rock Band drum set has been resurrected. Thanks to Pedal Metal the nightmare is over and brighter days are ahead. This comes right on the heels of the announcement that full albums are starting next week with Judas Preist's Screaming for Vengeance. It should be fun to get back into the drums to break up this mini late April cram of games.

Legendary

The Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack is now live and I couldn't be more excited to relive my days and nights of Halo many years ago. Hopefully my excitement back then wasn't entirely caused by excessive amounts of energy drinks. This morning I have been messing around in Forge to set things a little closer to how we remember them from Sidewinder, and would love to get some epic capture the flag stalemates going. The new DLC playlists just went up as I was typing this post, so I know where I’ll be the rest of the day.

[Update 2:55pm] Hahaha. Capture the flag on Avalanche is already priceless. Also when you download the Legendary Map Pack you get Bungie Pro for a limited time. Bungie Pro allows you to have more slots on your file share, so expect a few more links to new games and movies from our experiences this week.

Zero Out Of Infinity

Not that its a hot title or anything, but don't play Baroque. Just don't. Please. Gamefly I am truly sorry for making you pay for shipping this game. Saying anything more about this game would be too much.

Scary

There is an image right now floating around the internets of a Mario in real life. It's an artist creation of what Mario would look like if you were to take his exact physical features and make them real. Well the same creator of this terrifying image has also created a real life Homer Simpson, and has animated him. Horrifying in my opinion and I figured what better location then to share with than here at Scissors61. Enjoy!

Ad4tising

In my search for some news articles this week I stumbled upon the South American advertising campaign for PS3, and it is pretty crazy. Both of these images are Dali inspired, whatever that means. I hope they kick a couple more of these out, and hopefully in a high res so you can use them as a sweet ass wallpaper.

Phil LaMarr Update

Sometimes I like to play a game just for the sake of blowing stuff up. Its good to know this time around I have a good reason for doing so. Also Phil LaMarr proves he is never too busy.

Episode 30: Pancakes, Cheesesteaks, and Tabacco

We head back to Vegas to discuss our thoughts on some multiplayer and terrorist hunt. Grand Theft Auto IV is invading our minds and is here to stay with talk of leaked maps and achievements. Of course we also manage to get off topic and remember the golden days of the Philadelphia Phillies with great role models such as John Kruk and Darren Daulton. Episode 30 is here with a gift to you for sticking around or just grabbing on.
